Superdelegate count via Washington Post: 359 uncommitted, 241-Clinton, 196-Obama

The Washington Post has a great article on their research of "The Tally: 796 Superdelegates"

The 796 Democratic superdelegates have emerged as a focal point for confusion and controversy in the contest between Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama...Representing about one-fifth of all delegates involved in choosing the party's nominee, the group consists of, among others, Democratic National Committee members; current and former presidents and vice presidents; all current members of Congress and governors; and all former speakers of the House, House minority leaders, Senate leaders and DNC chair.

Just for the record, as the polls are inconsistent so are the national news organizations reporting on delegate counts, be they pledged or superdelegates.
  • NBC News has Clinton with 255 superdelegates and Obama 203 (+2)
  • CNN has Clinton with 236 superdelegates and Obama with 185
  • The AP has Clinton with 242 superdelegates and Obama with 195.
  • And here, the WaPo has Clinton with 241 superdelegates and Obama with 196
For Clinton that is a deviation range of 19 (CNN to NBC) while between CNN, AP & Wa Po is a deviation range of 6, probably pretty accurate. For Obama the range again runs 18 (between CNN & NBC) while the AP and WaPo are within one and that too is probably pretty accurate. But who knows, NBC might be further out there getting people to say things they didn't want to or CNN is more strict about what is a commitment.
