According the the SF Chronicle Bill Clinton went ballistic this past weekend during private meetings with party superdelegates at the CA State Convention, commanding the group to
“chill out,” but reportedly turning red with anger over Gov. Bill Richardson’s decision to endorse Barack Obama.
According to reports:
the former president erupted with anger, irately telling delegate Rachel Binah that “five times to my face [Richardson] said that he would never do that.”
A delegate by the name of Rachel Binah, said she originally supported Governor Richardson's presidential campaign, but now backs Hillary Clinton, was the one who apparently triggered the outburst:
"when she told the former president that she was “sorry” to hear his onetime campaign manager James Carville compare Richardson to “Judas” because of his decision to back Obama. Clinton blasted Richardson as well as the national media for what he described as biased coverage in the campaign.
“It was very, very intense,” one attendee told the newspaper. “Not at all like the Bill of earlier campaigns.”
Another superdelegate characterized the gathering as “one of the worst political meetings I have ever attended.”This will have ramifications in that what would Bill be like in the White House? When he finally wound down, Bill was asked what message he wanted the delegates to take away from the meeting.
At that point, a much calmer Clinton outlined his message of party unity.
"It was kind of strange later when he took the stage and told everyone to 'chill out,' " one delegate told us.
"We couldn't help but think he was also talking to himself."
